I’ve been using my A4 for 10 years.
I’ve never had a problem with Overbridge.
I haven’t been able to use Overbridge for some time now.
As soon as it’s connected via USB, it displays “Measuring” and the device freezes and no longer responds.
The USB cable must be removed and the A4 restarted without the USB cable plugged in.
All my other Elektron devices work perfectly with Overbridge.
I reinstalled the firmware and performed a factory reset, to no avail.
Overbridge was installed only on the A4, to no avail.
I also installed Overbridge on another PC, and it had exactly the same problem.
I don’t know what to do.
Could it be a problem with the A4, or is it a software issue?
I hope you can help me.
I’ve seen this issue mentioned several times. I don’t know if this will be relevant but try what simon suggested here.
It would also be good to confirm (in writing) your computer, OS, OB version and A4 FW version in the event that it will help someone diagnose your issue.

As mentioned, the A4 freezes as soon as it’s connected to USB.
I can’t configure anything in the control panel because the device isn’t recognized.
OS: Win 11

I see. I think I would contact elektron support at this point. The condition is more drastic than I expected.
Use the contact support tab after logging into your elektron.se user account and describe the situation and submit the ticket. I’ll hope that they can help.
What I forgot to mention is that it works in USB MIDI mode. It doesn’t freeze there.
Electronic Transfer works.
As soon as I select Overbridge mode on the device, it immediately freezes.
However, it is recognized as an audio device in Device Manager.
Yes, this is also a common behavior with these overbridge problems. Audio over USB / ability to use as an interface may still work (where you assign as an audio device in your daw) but multitrack audio where the breakdown occurs.
Of course I’m speaking of the usb midi / audio mode as opposed to being in overbridge mode. Transfer should still work when in USB midi / audio as well.
Was there nothing specific which precipitated this issue? No update of software or firmware? No specific trigger between working and not working?
Does your computer automatically search for and download updates?
Hi, did you manage to fix this? Same happened to my A4 MK1 few days ago. Tried on 3 PCs without luck. Overbridge makes the A4 freeze (only fix being restarting it) and fails to connect in Win11. Midi mode works without issues.
I don’t have a clue, I just downloaded yesterday, latest for both, but it isn’t working on my side, and I’m just trying to see if it ever worked for anyone and under what versions, so I can try those too, as latest isn’t working on my side, and I’m reading lots of posts with different opinions and experiences, but nothing too clear
Nope. It’s the same like yours - freezing when in OB mode. Tried on few PCs with Win10 and Win11 to no avail.
Raised a ticket with Elektron, got an answer that they were able to reproduce it and it’s passed on to the dev team. No more replies since then (2 weeks ago).
Will be sad if I can’t use it as a soundcard / in OB mode anymore.
Nice! At least we are experiencing the same issue and they are looking into it. I also opened a ticket today, so hopefully that will be get sorted soon. Thanks for sharing
