A4 midi sync issue

Hey all this may be a dumb question, but I am getting weird things happening to my A4 patches when playing with the Octa crossfader. A4 set to receive only clock and transport, OT set to send only clock and transport, and the oddness persists even when I coose blank scenes to crossfade. Oddness being unwanted pitch and delay changes, I think. The pitch changes are very noticeable, but I think some other stuff going on too. Reload kit on the A4 gets me back to normal and crossfader tweaks throw it off kilter again. Thoughts? Advice?

standard answer is to hook up a MIDI monitor between the units (or Tee off the OT output). The OT is clearly sending stuff to the A4.

Look at the A4 MIDI spec to see what external MIDI CCs (or notes) cause the behavior you see and that should help track down what the OT is sending.

According to the OT manual, the crossfader only sends CC 30 (hex, 48 decimal), values between 0 and 127

My suggestion would be to check the send/receive midi channels of both units again.

The A4 has a so called “auto channel” in the <Global Menu/Midi Config/Midi Channels>. If the OT sends to the same channel, which on the AR happens to be the “auto channel”, you could have an unwanted “talk-line” between both.
In the menu <Midi/Control> of the OT is a feature to activate/deactivate CC and note in/out and to limit this to int/ext/int+ext. Maybe that the fader is using this way, but I didn’t check with the midi implementation mapping.
The Elektron units send/receive NRPN too - not only CC. Did you check this?

Nice! Turned off a bunch of those midi/nrpn whatnots and it seems to have solved it. Didn’t take the time to test each one by one so apologies to anyone looking at this thread for anything definitive. I’m slightly clueless in this realm and will only be turning settings back on as I require/learn them. Thanks again!
