I’m spending 12 days (travelling today!) with my family in Can Picafort on Mallorca. We’re renting an apartment and I’m seeing some early mornings with coffee (and possibly late evenings) on the balcony.
…and my A4. (What other use is there for carry-on luggage?)
I’ve had the A4 for a while but while at home I tend to get into bigger jamming and using it with my other gear. Now I’d like to dive into some stuff on the A4 and focus only on that. Learning and exploring.
So - I’d like some pointers on what features or techniques I should explore. What’s been your aha-moments with the A4? What can it do self-contained? What would be some challenges or tasks to dive into using only the A4?
it’s the perfect fellow to be alone with u, opening u up with it’s beautyful limitations just by flowing with u…
just stick to basic music producing essentials like always aiming for complete results that can stand for their own in the end…no other synth has so many synth, scapes, textures and rhythm options within just four voices/tracks…and i know, i don’t have to tell u that as news…just as a reminder…
enjoy the clarity of that “simplicity rules and leads to complexity” setup in front of you…the rest does the moment and the machine…enjoy your holidays…and don’t forget…plocks only work on mindspace, not on familymembers…
Spend some time and explore the feedback oscillator in combination with AM. Modulating Filter 1 and the AM oscillators settings can make some really interesting sounds.
Be careful with sunscreen on your hands. I had a tiny amount on my fingers and look what it did to the “function” type print. It wipes the lettering right off!
Must be the alchohol in the sunscreen. GRr… issues with the analog four front panel…
But about the features to explore: I;d say get really comfortable with the performance macros and extracting new kits and sounds by tweaking multiple parameters at a time.
…but hell yeah, the feedback oscillator planet and the makro options are a good spot to get carried away for sure…
THE corner where this synth can explore real new terretorry like no other…
Making music with the sea in your eyes, ears and nose must be magic ! Enjoy yourself
Don’t be afraid to loose stuff - it will learn you alot.
I don’t know how it works for you but for me the most important is to PLAY. I use this word in the Childish way. Children get lost totally in creativity and don’t take it all to serious.
Let Mallorca inspitre you.
Nowadays I am intending to use the A4 as a mono synth, with as many oscillators and neighboring signals…
This way the sound can evolve in a very weird manner !
Nice thread!
I’m about to go on Isola d’Elba but unlike Napoleon I will have my AR and AK for a good measure of beats and melodies with me …
I know it may be allready to much with both of the machines but since I have two full weeks and a little boy that keeps me from going out at nights I will have plenty of jamming time!
I’ll send some pics to make you… well, let’s say share my happiness with me
this is a song I made with my A4 only
i made sounds, stored them and loaded them to my ram memory (not sure if thats the name in a4)
then I can load them easily, like parameter locks that can be loaded in… works very well
synthsecrets (soundonsound) helps me a lot with creating beats
and macro controlls (or performance mode) is amazing with the A4
I make some patterns, on such a way can i.e. take away the kick by changing pattern.
the more I play with one box only, the more I like them. When using 2 or in the past 3 boxes, I only scratch the surface…
