I feel like I might be missing something- maybe someone can clue me in. I just got some custom cables built so I can effecticly use all 4 CV outs. Until now I had two regualr 1/4TS - 1/8TS that I used out of CV A and CV C to run my Dark Energy. Today I got two Unbalanced 1/4"TRS male to Dual 1/4" TS female Y-Cables. I kept CV A as pitch and made CV B to Gate - connected everything correctly and for some odd reason the Dark Energy wasn’t getting it’s gate signals. I’ve tested the cables every way and its wired correctly. Using a tone generator through the Y-cable into a pair of headphones I can see that the cable does in fact send Tip out of output 1 and Ring out of output 2 but how come gate doesn’t work? Are the CV outs of the A4 1/4" TRS unbalanced or am i crazy? I could always be crazy…
start by checking the cable which does sound fine btw
leaving gate aside
do both outputs carry a different signal
use Value Lin on both
pop one in DE VCO and one in VCF with the VCA open
once you’re 100% on the cable (ie both channels are separated) go examine your settings for gate type - remember you could use a LFO to provide gate signals too (even w Value Lin i think)
explore the CV source options too as you may be getting pitch from cv and gate from elsewhere
Hey thanks for the tip! and sorry for the late reply. I had everything on the A4 set correctly but After your with Value/Lin test I see that it IS the custom cable at fault. Im not sure the cable is properly wired as “insert” as it is supposed to be. Going to have to ask my buddy to crack out his soldering iron.
