A4 and Rytm (mk2) feel different

Just got a A4 mk2, having a Rytm mk2 from before.

After turning the A4 on there are several things that feel different.

The A4 just reacts quicker in menus and in turning knobs, smoother, the Rytm feel a bit sluggish in comparison.

For example choosing LFO destination in the list, smooth on the A4 and i get through the list a lot faster. Rytm much scrolls much choppier, and i have to turn the knob several times to get to the bottom of the list, on the A4 one turn is enough and still it has more LFO destinations i believe.

First i thougt that maybe there was some adjustment in setting to make knob values go faster, but cant find anything like that.

Would really like the Rytm to behave like the A4, any thoughts about this? (Both machines have the latest firmware)

to prove(disprove) that it’s just the firmware UI tuning and not the hardware - power into test mode and compare the feel of the encoders(endless potentiometers actually) there - there’s visual feedback - all should be identical across both units

any variations are therefore a lack of fine tuning for certain parameters - in my experience, the feel is sketchy at best across most devices, it always feels like some part of the UI is fighting against you - not saying it’s easy, but it can clearly be improved in places - possibly my biggest gripe in general

The Rytm is more sluggish in test mode too. Weird.

Its not a huge difference, but noticable. But its also strange that you scroll faster on the A4 when turning a knob, maybe its related.

So this might be hardware related then? Maybe ill talk to support and see what they say.

Curious finding, I perhaps assumed wrong, will compare with mine if I get a chance

Slightly OT but do you find it quieter than the A4? I did an AB comp with the Digitakt playing identical sample loops and my AR2 is not as loud as the DT.

Yes, feels like something like that. How are the encoders calibrated? Is it something i can do or must elektron do it?

Nothing thats bothering me at least.

…that’s usually happening as one of the last steps at their workshop, after assembling, before packing it into it’s final boxing…

but they also optimize firmwares from time to time for this…but i don’t have details on all this for u…sorry…

Thanks, ive contacted Elektron, well se what happens. It doesnt ruin the machine, its just that the A4 is muc h more nice to handle.

Yepp. I acctually updated the Rytm yesterday, but the “feel” of it reamins.

Theres no settings for knob behaviour right? Almost seems like the A4 has some acceleration when scrolling in the list of LFO destinations. As it goes through the list so quickly.

the analog rytm UI Handles 12 tracks , 12 digital lfo , 8 analog filters an so on ( on a dual vco track you can add a sample and plock the 3 pitches) .
on the master it has dly rvb plus distorsion and master compressor ( a4 has only 3 fx )
i think it’s simply a much busier machine than the A4, i feel the sluginess you’re talking about as i owned an A4 mk1 back in the days .
