You know… this is absolutely beautiful. I have been slowly realizing that the A4 can do more video game style music. More so than my DN which is surprising.
You really nailed the sound design here!

a downtempo thing i made on the AK
Thanks a lot!
I would have said that the Digitone was more powerful regarding sound design capabilities, but I don’t have one.
For some reason the A4 when used right just sounds more chiptune-y than the DN (even though the sounds we associate with old school games are indeed FM…). Could just be perception. They are both extremely powerful from a sound design perspective of course. Not sure one wins over the other
This song’s mostly just A4, I’ve really fallen in love with it and all the tricks it has up it’s sleeve… so much so that I’m considering selling a bunch of gear to buy a second!
I recorded this track in one take with no processing post recording and actually very little done in terms of mixing… all audio was run through the A4 and the only other gear I used was a td3-mo which you hear later in the track and the beat is made with a Volca Sample (though routed through / processed with A4)
Great sounding music in this thread, very inspiring!
Here’s an ambient composition I made awhile ago.
Very nice!
Inspiring thread! I took on my own “A4 only” challenge this weekend with my mk1—no other gear allowed. I tried to squeeze every bit of room out of the four voices, using sound/parameter locking, trigger conditions, slow delay, and big reverb to create the illusion of more elements and mask the voice stealing. Spreading different motifs across patterns also helped with the live arrangement. Only post production of the recording in ableton with some eq/compression/limiting.
Have a listen/watch if you like:
Lovely little piece!
here are a couple things i’ve been working on that are A4mk1 only, trying to build up an EP of minimal house stuff:
Love these vibes! I’d gladly buy the EP I could chase this sound for hours and probably never get close.
Anyone into dub techno?
This is a demo video for the 8 patterns which are part of the bonuses for a soundpack.
The patterns all have three macros which make the super fun to jam with and you can of course record them into full tracks.
Enjoy
Got the A4 and M:S a couple of months now. Still have to figure out so much on both of the machines. But this is a jam which I like to share!``
