Put a item up for sale high value £1100 was contacted by a buyer wanting to buy but wanted it for £1000 i sent him the offer £1000 then looked at his feedback buyer hadnt bought anything for over a year so was showing no feedback so i cancelled the listing and relisted
They contacted me the following day saying his offered had disappeared i said there was a error and relisted it
Buyer asked if i could send better pics etc so i did he was happy with them he was asking all the right questions and noticed in the meantime he had some feedback so i gave him the benefit of the doubt they bought it and i sent it off special delivery
The following day with out any message or anything a return case was opened up with the item was damaged and stating it was basically a mess and it wasn’t the item i had listed and upload a load of pics showing a mess of the item
I rang ebay they agreed it was completely different to the ones that i had sent to the buyer and was told to accept the return but when i got it back if to inspect it and if theres any problem with it ring straight away and report them as theres also protection for sellers
Received the item back opened the parcel was my item i sent same serial wasn’t a mess like in the return pics but most of all it was dead didn’t power on NIGHTMARE
Called ebay got transferred to the relevant department told him whole story told me to check my email sign it send it back and the case will be closed in my favour
So it proves Sellers can win against dodgy buyers maybe they had a history of it or i was just lucky or maybe ebay are protecting sellers more now who knows im just glad i didnt loose out in the end cause i feared the worse
Ps I should have gone with my gut feeling in the first place
Thats why i love this place ive bought and sold on here and its all been Friends and Family or BT and never had a problem the thing is being able to check someones message count etc its a god send
Sounds like he done the old switcheroo, probably swapped out the internals, I had the same thing happen to me with a 606 I sold years ago, fortunately I was able to fix it.
Whatever it was, it’s great that ebay didn’t unjustly fault you, but it’s unfortunate that whatever he harvested from your gear, you now have a dead item. Will ebay reimburse you for that?
Your original funds as in the money he paid for the listing? That’s fantastic. Definitely a good lesson to be learned from the overall scenario though.
I dont know how they came to there decision though after reading sellers horror stories maybe it was because of my feedback, maybe the buyer has done it before or maybe just some nice person from ebay ive no idea
Thank you for posting this. I’ve been selling on ebay for over 25 years and am just now dealing with my first seemingly fraudulent return request. Your post has given me a sliver of hope that I may not be getting reamed.
Exactly most of the time its ok but u get the odd one or two that are chancers ebay needs to look at its buyers feed back and history system
On here i can see how many post someone makes and check with other members about them before i buy from them with ebay its very secretive they need to allow u to leave honest negative feedback for buyers not just positive feedback
Yeah suppose thats the point of my post even though i got a good outcome in the end theres more sellers out there that have lost out but in the end you should always trust your gut instinct
