While I respect your opinion, I might challenge and say maybe the American guys like Mario and Enrique maybe just don’t showcase the style/genre that you prefer like The great Cenk. I find it refreshing hearing a new take on what these machines can do in other genres/styles then the previous offerings.
In terms of marketing, I think its probably important to them to try to widen their demographics since they already have won over the cenk centric crowd. I really enjoyed the last live stream type video that Enrique and Mario put out recently on the Elektron channel. I think Mario is super talented and love hearing him make more boom bap oriented stuff on the Elektron machines, and seeing a few of his tricks on some of the perfect circle videos IE Digitakt two lfo update etc.
IMO Cenk is and was an amazing musician and eloquent product specialist, and I have learned a lot from his videos throughout my years with Elektron, so no slight against him, just feel like Mario has a tough job to try to compete with the past nostalgia while doing his thing. I think Ricky is a great addition and yin to his yang in terms of presentation style
It seems like nearly every day in r/modular or r/synthesizers someone asks about polyphonic eurorack. It seems a bit nuts to me, too, but people seem to keep asking for it.
While you are right that its just not my genre its just not that complex I think and doesn´t show the potential of the machines. I think those 4 to the floor beats are a little underwhelming for an elektron sequencer. But as you said. Might come down to taste.
I kind of agree with you, but the overall sequencing capabilities of the machines haven’t evolved that much. There’s plenty of absolutely wild using-everything-to-the-max music out there featuring Elektron gear. It’s nice to have more official demos that are restrained and show off the sequencer in a more traditional setting.
On-topic: polyphonic Eurorack is pretty widely asked-for. While it isn’t something that I personally want right now, I’m happy to see the manufacturers have responded to the desires for this.
(I actually very much like midi voice modules. I can fit a bunch of them in a 6U rack instead of having the carry around a bunch of individual synths.)
Wow, I feel like this is exactly what people have been wishing for other synth companies to put out. Looks really sweet. Wonder what reverb algorithm(s) they went with? Real spring reverb (tank mod selection)? Looks like it has a ton of LFOs too (says lfo 10 on the little screen). Cost yet?
I’m really, really hoping it’s going to be their new take on the Abyss (2.0). It’s been leaked quite some time ago, so the time seems ripe. As I stated in a previous post, that is going to be an instant buy. Holy moly. What do you think they’re bringing to the table? Other pedal?
I was thinking the same, so many new products! Maybe a consequence of the pandemic + chipset & components shortage loosening up and allowing the resuming of paused / slowed down development?
Also, so many BIG devices. That company of small gear launching the expensive music production desk surely saw this trend coming.
