Even after reading manuals, watching lots of videos and googling, done all my homework… still struggle with this one thing… I’ve found a way to bake music from elektron gear to files on computer, but just thought I’d see if there is a deeper level to find somehow somewhere …
I am trying to understand a good overview of what different methods there are, when you are at the point of “okay got a song ready but it’s on my hardware, recorded on elektron or which ever gear” and just want to get the music into a .wav or .mp3 or what ever format, and send the song on its merry way… I find learning music theory for example easy, and making a half-decent song is easy… but why I can’t record that bloody noise onto a bloody simple mp3 without something going wrong lol
I mean I can do it, but I feel using Reaper in like four different ways I’ve tried based on tutorials and forum posts, still feel somehow… unprofessional…
Maybe I need to cave in and get Ableton… at least it’s got more thorough theoretical tutorials…?
Hard to address whatever problems you’re having, but Overbridge in standalone mode can record the stereo out from your machine. No daw needed. Or you could record audio from the L/R output into a small wav recorder that has a line in.
It depends on the device. A lot of Elektron boxes have Overbridge, so I record all of the tracks individually over USB into my DAW, and then do any arranging and mixing from there. Some Roland boxes can send multitrack over USB as well. If am using Ableton Push 3SA or Move, those projects open right up in Ableton, which is convenient. Some of my machines have mutliple assignable hardware outputs, so I will record those into an interface and into a DAW, allowing each track or group to have their own tracks. If the machine I am using doesn’t have those options, I will try and mix as good as I can in the machine, then record the stereo output through my interface into my DAW and go from there.
ah Ableton Push works well with Elektron boxes?
That sounds like my cup of tea.
For some reason my brain works well with anything outside Windows
Like I could grasp Elektron workflow in a matter of 2 weeks.
But ask me to bake a flawless copy of a song in .wav format on pc,
took me a month to understand that.
Or… maybe my setup just is over complicated or something.
Like perfect for me would be to bake the song on external hardware
yeah there are things like Syntakt, Monomachine… some have other gear… kind of helpful, but not really a perfect solution in my searches so far for me, but others seemed to find it helpful yeah
