Im going to be kicking myself…
I’m using static tracks and my samples are continuing to play after switching to a new pattern, I want them to cut off when the pattern changes but reverb tails etc carry on
thanks in advance 
Does the “start silent” option in track options not also deal with this on a per-track or global basis? I’ve not used it, but that is my understanding of that feature.

It looks like the start silent plus making sure release/hold settings are not maxed has sorted this
