For reasons I won’t go into, I will no longer be using Elektron gear or visiting these forums. My Octatrack will be for sale in the next couple of days, and my anniversary Machinedrum may follow shortly. I still haven’t decided if I want to hang on to it as a future investment or not. That’s the bad news.
On a more positive note, I can’t say enough good things about how great it’s been to know you all over the years. As community you’ve been incredible supportive of each other and me as well, and it’s been an honor getting to know so many of you and listen to the incredible music you’ve been making. It’s pretty rare to run into such an open-minded and flame-free online community these days, and I’m going to miss that something fierce.
As a thank you to everyone here, I’ve decided to make the all of the sample chains I had created for my new album and live set available for download, now that I no longer need them.
There are three folders of sample chains in that zip file, one containing drum sounds, one containing synth, guitar, and chord sample chains, and one that uses single-cycle waveforms for turning the Octatrack into a synthesizer. All samples are in the key of C, and some of the chord samples use both major and minor chords. All chains contain 64 samples, so you can make full use of the Sample Start parameter in the Octatrack. I hope some of you find these useful!
Thanks everyone, and I wish you all the best in your music-making endeavors. And as always, if you ever need anything mastered, well… you know where to find me
Blimey. Hope everything’s ok. Definitely been a help to me too over the years and not just on this board. Thanks for your generous parting gift. Be well fella.
Sad Tarekith that you will no longer have any input around the forum.
Thanks for the chains but mostly thanks for everything over at EU. I have learned a lot in the past few years from you over there and on your various sites/blogs etc.
Shame to hear this. I can’t help but wonder if its linked to a recent post you made in the new announcement thread about them not outdating gear. Hmmmm indeed.
I’ll remember your helpful/generous contributions too!! especially when I needed help In choosing my first propper synth over on the access forum years ago.
Just saw your blog post about the OT chains, which was surprising enough … and came over here to find this thread.
Can’t tell you how much your presence here has meant. Just last night I was reading through your tips on the MnM, which you didn’t even own for that long … but you were still thoughtful enough to compile lots of great ideas for using it into a handy doc you shared freely. Something you’ve done many times over the years in one way or another.
Good luck with your next step Erik, you’ll be missed.
I hope this decision was well-thought out! Seems kind of like a snowboarder losing a Burton sponsorship or something. Very strange kind of thing to see in regards to musical instruments…
Anyway, thanks for all the helpful stuff you’ve posted in various forums around the Web. You certainly helped me when I was just getting into Elektron gear.
But how could you sell your OT? To this casual observer, that’s like If I were to sell a kidney!
lol… I can’t imagine anyone selling their existing gear over it and calling it quits though.
(but as he doesn’t wanna talk about it we’ll never know, hopefully not a drama situation)
farewell & have a good time!
