Oh, oops !!! I was trying to work out where they are based - the prices were in dollars and I couldnt see the country they shipped from in all of the ā€˜about’ and ā€˜contact’ pages so assumed it was from the States ! Time to look at it again ! (I am in the UK)

That’s right, I forgot you were in the UK. Russia I believe.

Out of curiosity, would one of you savvy people estimate the cost of building one and shipping it to Europe? I am not able to build it and don’t have the time to learn.

Not sure yet if I’d ā€˜want to proceed but I’d like to know what I’d have to compensate you dear fellow! Pm if you’re interested

Ooh… how to answer that one !!!

I’d never build one for anyone for money but I guess it would take someone competent about 20-30 hours to build and debug (bit of a guess), then someone would probably add a bit of extra money in case it had errors that were hard to debug… depends on what they want to charge for their hourly rate…

(if you were in the UK I’d point you to friends of mine who actually do build and repair synths for a living… and then you could get a quote from them…)

Maybe @FrvstMask should change the thread title to SR-909 Replica (or clone) so it’s easier to differentiate between all of the 909 clones in the future?

I pre-ordered the SR-909 kit last year.

Suddenly, a war happened.

Part of me figured I might be out $1000.

Today I got a message with a photo of the box and shipping label attached, saying he’s dropping it in the mail!

Thanks!

Any recommendations from your experience?

I’m a high skill/knowledge level DIY’er FYI.

Still, anything you might have run into that was difficult, gotchas, etc…?

yeah, get different wires, if you didn’t ordered them already along with the SR Kit. Steda offers ready to use ones now for around 20 Bucks upcharge. that means, you don’t need to crimp the terminals to the wires anymore by yourself and to put them inside the Molex headers. if it’s not donecarfully, issues with lose connections are preprogrammed.

those ones as a example. available in different sizes

Thanks! I did actually order pre-crimped wires. Making wire harnesses is tedious and repetitive work that I loathe.

it could be also possible, that a couple of the M5218L Op-amps are faulty. i found at least 3 faulty one in my SR. there are 37 of them in total on the voice board. in most cases, you can tell if a op amp is bad by noisy or distorted sound of the individual drum sections. but those can be replaced by different ones. they cost only under a buck, so it’s not a big deal

Thanks for the heads up!

I’ll keep an eye out if I’m having issues. Might even order a few spares ahead of time.

The kit showed up today after a long wait.

Also some free gifts :gift:

I’ll post my progress once I get around to starting on it.

not sure if this will help you on your build or not but I did have some trouble with some of the step buttons when I got mine. and mind you, it was built by Steda. the first couple buttons would stick very often. eventually they said I should pull the button caps and cut a very tiny piece of their led’s off. apparently the caps were catching and sticking on the led’s once pressed. not sure if that will help you or not… but apparently the alignment combination of the led’s and triggers is very tight and something to be careful of. or maybe Steda just goofed, I dunno :man_shrugging:
