808 Samples weird playback?

On the stock sample library, the SFM pack, I loaded the 2nd 808 kick in the 808 sample folder. It’s a long decay, really deep sound. And it’s a train wreck when I play it back. When I audition the kick with a [function] [yes] it sounds fine. then when I load the sample and have it play back in the track, it’s all warbling and phasey sounding, and just really off.

The track has nothing going on from an amp, filter, FX perspective, just a default track. nothing going on with a master track, not even a master track.

Anyone ever run into this? Is it a known issue? Any ideas?

My first go to in this sort of scenario would be to make sure that timestretch is off

I’m new to octatrack, it’ll take me a minute to figure that out but sounds like a smart place to start!

I think from the top of my head, if you hit SRC twice for 2nd level menu you should see the setting there.
