707 sends trigger (rim trig out) to a synth/sequencer (something like a 101 or microbrute, etc)

Yes, but the 707 will need to he set to sync mode 5-d. I’d recommend flipping the 2 though…with the 707 as master you get din/midi/trigger syncs all available plus a visual display of your bpm not to mention hh/cymbal decay adjustment on the 606 via tempo knob when slaved.

Just to clarify: you are saying you would recommend 707 as master or slave? I believe you meant to say master, but just want to make sure.
