Could someone explain how “6x” relates to 16th notes (“12x” = 8th notes)? Trying to wrap my head around the arp speed setting.
Multiples of both 2 and 3 allow triplets as well.
It’s about the timing resolution. The arp resolution is 24 PPQ, there are 24 discrete steps per quarter note.
24 steps Quarter
18 steps Dotted 8th
16 steps Quarter Triplet
12 steps 8th
8 steps 8th Triplet
6 steps 16th
4 steps 16th triplet
3 steps 32nd
2 steps 32nd triplet
So, think of the “X” as this this how many ticks (discrete steps) each note lasts.
