4 separate mono sources?

I currently have a Korg Volca Beats and Korg Volca Bass hooked up to to inputs A/B and C/D respectively, using mini stereo to 2 x mono 1/4" cables. I believe these instruments are essentially sending a doubled mono signal from their mini stereo outputs.

I was wondering if I can simply use mini stereo to single 1/4" mono cables and route the Beats to input “A” and the Bass to input “B” of the Octatrack, thereby freeing up inputs C and D for other sources.

Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible to record from a mono source, lets say IN A to track 1. On the track 1 the recorded sound will be stereo, on both sides will be the same IN A.

Yeah I can confirm it works as well. You have to use a thru machine though as you can’t select a direct input per input (i.e. control the two mono sources volume independently) otherwise

the only problem is you have to use two thru machines to do that or the sound only works in L&R for the A-B and C-D
