3rd party power supllies

I have misplaced my power supplies for both my Octatrack and MDUW MK II (Long story involving a move)*.

I can replace them for $50 each, or go 3rd party/ebay for half that price.

Does anyone have any experience with 3rd party power supplies for the Elektron boxes? I see one bad review on Amazon. That is the only feedback I can find.

Not looking to debate 3rd party vs Elektron rebranded power supplies. Just looking for feedback from anyone who has gone 3rd party for Elektron Power.

cant help you … but: i wouldnt jeopardize my 1000 + bucks toy to save on 25 bucks for a PSU … if you research a bit you may find horrifying stories of cheapo china imports not matching western standards … all this imho! … if you find a decent psu hope it will work out for you!

theoretically it’s probably OK as long as the actual specs are followed.
alas, nobody will suggest to use a power adapter that is not Elektron approved - for obvious reasons!
use cheap power supplies at your own risk.

it’s just a dc power adapter, as long as the barrel dimensions, plug polarity and charger specs are the same you’ll be fine

I agree with all of you Thanks for the replies.

If no one has used the aftermarket PS then I am not inclined to be the guinea pig, though my gut tells me what bkinsman says is true, I don’t want to risk it without hearing from someone who has tried one.

I’ll let you know if I end up trying one.

As already wrote above, electrical specification labels are not always really correct.
Especially due to the cheaper productions and quality controls that some cheap products get.

Elektron machines (for me) deserve the best love and care.

If you end up with a PS that gives you confidence to be used with Elektrons, then it is 98% probably that its price is the same of the approved one by-hair…

I left my OT ps at home while travelling; replaced with Radio Shack one of appropriate spec, used it for a week with no ill effects.
