203 Systems Mystrix 2

Yeah, ok. In that case probably a better alternative is a good tablet holder (although it might interfere with the touch strips, hm). Anyway, there is time to think about this.

One question, especially about the Ultra version. You publicize its high brightness, but what about the opposite, low brightness for a dark setup i.e. a studio with dim light? Many devices with pads have a “low brightness” option that is still too bright in a dark setup. Maybe ok for a few minutes but uncomfortable for long sessions where you are mostly staring at the pads.

And I have asked you somewhere else about using the Mystrix with Bitwig’s clip launcher, whether an integration already exists or what would it take. Sorry for all these questions, the independence and openness of your project makes it very interesting!

The brightness on the low end is also pretty low, but the color accuracy is slightly reduced.

Regarding the Bitwig integration. I haven’t worked on any integration yet because, to be completely honest, I’m now a DAW power user, so I’m worried that the stuff I make won’t be great.

I will leave the community to work out the integration, or maybe if enough people get Mystrix, the software maker can provide official integrations!

This looks amazing! I’m so excited about this! I’m assuming you can use the touch strips like modwheel/pitchbemd strips? I would love to see an app for it that allowed different CCs to be controlled just by holding or toggling different pads, to quickly choose different parameters. You could create really powerful, flexible macros that way. It would be a great way to repoace the need for mixing board faders. Imagine having 32 fingers to slide mixer knobs at the same time.

Also what are the dimensions of the Ultra? It looks like the Mystrix Pro is only a little bit bigger than the Launchpad Mini Mk3. I love the small, portable fotm factor.

Thank you. I’ll keep my eye on the Kickstarter. Will definitely be backing this.

I’m getting closer to having a trial production version of Mystrix 2 done by this month.

Here’s a pic of the latest prototype. A lot of things & specs have changed for the better, and I will make a formal announcement soon. Timeline is a bit behind originally planned, but it’s totally worth it imo.

Meanwhile, if you want to give Mystrix a try. You can now play with a simulated version on your browser via Matrix OS Developer Toolkit, user guide available at Project Matrix Wiki

For Mystrix 2, it will already have a lot of first-party features at launch, so we will focus heavily on the community-created apps. I would love to know what you think about it and any ideas you have.
