I’m very proud to be an owner of an Elektron MonoMachine. My 1st. i always wanted one and i finally got my Dream. i read and heard a lot about it’s unique features that i had to experience it for myself.
here’s a basic Video i uploaded on youtube. it’s just a simple Demo i composed using the MonoMachine and the Dave Smith MoPho.
i hope you enjoy.
Nice track. The Monomachine certainly adds some unique textures that would otherwise be a bit tough to pull off with other gear.
Cool, thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks guys, appreciate that…i had a lot of groove boxes but this one really seems to be unique and in it’s own class. Never have i heard or experienced anything like this…Now i want a Machine Drum to Compliment it.
Dug it. Was that the Zoom MS-70CDR in there? What were you using it on, and how do you like it?
That was indeed the Zoom Multistomp pedal…very convenient small effects processor that runs 7 hours on 2 AA batteries…I only use that with the mopho…what I like about it, is that I can adjust miliseconds on Delay to sync with BMP on my MoPho…it has tons of effects and quality is superb…I was going to get a rack version but I like the size of this one…this will be a keeper for a while…
Looks more like the MS-50G. I was thinking about acquiring one of those too, but went with the MS-100BT because of its stereo inputs.
Nice jam, rhampton! The digital and analog marriage sounds great here. Interesting song structure too.
Thanks. Appreciate that.
and yes, that;s exactly the Zoom Ms-50… i intentionally bought it for Multi effects for my MoPho even tho it was designed for Guitar. i just don’t use any distortion and the Delay, Reverb and other effects ROCK!!!..
i plan on using it on my next upload on Youtube .
Loving the Monomachine. haven’t figured out how to get Reverb yet…but i deal with the Delay for now. seems like that’s enough.
wish this unit had more punch bass and more flexible drum Kit. Elektron really makes you work when it comes to composing a song.
yesy
Reverb and the other FX require you to give up a track. So if you had say a SID machine on track one and you wanted to add reverb to it, you would probably want to make track 2 a reverb track (and make sure to set trigs!!!) set to neighbor. It’s a little frustrating to have to lose a track for FX, but at the same time you also have another amp/filter/delay etc. to apply to whatever track(s) you’re effecting. I’ve been playing around with this a lot, and it’s a cool way to get different sounds out of your tracks.
Best tip I can give on drums is to really utilize the arp to get variations. Actually, the arp might be my favorite thing about the mono, especially once you start playing around with the different trig modes and the timing. Try making a simple beat with the BBOX, then start messing with the arp.
Wow, thanks for that Tip. i will have to try that this evening. I really needed that…for since i had the MonoMachine for like 2 weeks now, i never used that option…so now i’m motivated to explore that…
my next song, i was going to do more like Video Game Music with a bpm of like 150…i don’t usually go that high but the type of Video Game music i’m doing is in that Range of Tempo. Yes i’m a Gaming Geek…lol…i like old school Sega Genesis, Commodore 64, Atari St, Amiga 2000 games…i like emulating Video game music that was created on those machines.
i currently on GT4 now on my PS2…Damm that’s a hard game to beat…especially in the Special events section…ok enough about games.
so i have 1 question, so your saying that when i use a second track…how does that track effect the rest of the 5…how do i know which track i want to ad reverb too…Does that particular Track now have a different section now that i opened a Reverb Track?
Reggie
Yeah, if you haven’t used the arp, you need to check it out. The “sequencer within a sequencer” description is pretty apt. I maybe use the arp a little too often, but I find it is usually the trick to get notes to fall where I want them to. I’ve really been in love with the SID lately (using an external keyboard really helped to bring it to life) for having my sequence played as programmed, but putting in little runs when you play more than one note.
You can also use it to sequence external gear (albeit slightly more limited since you don’t have the different trig options). Turns my XD-5 into a magic machine :).
As for the FX, when you select a track from the kit edit menu, you can select it to be a neighbor track (only effecting the track preceding it…track 1 will be effected by the FX you place on track 2, etc), or you can select from a variety of different mix and bus options. Take another look at the Monomachine Routing section on page 81 of the manual.
