15k worth of gear or full set of hair? lol (mid 30’s+)

thought it might be fun to discuss as I’m sure it affects a good portion of us.

how important is hair really to us aging men?
(women, I don’t think you have this problem but feel free to laugh)

idk how you guys feel but it seems like the last 7 years or so I’ve been paying way too much attention to it.
I guess since I noticed it thinning I’ve been trying to cherish it more and more.
it’s funny cuz when my hair was more full I had sort of a clean-cut look and really didn’t appreciate it.
now I’m like always thinking of new ways to try and prolong it.
-I started even patting my hair gently instead of washing it thoroughly cuz i always notice so much hair falls off lol.

well then there’s the gear…which we are extremely passionate about for the most part.

I know 15k seems soo far off in accumulating at once (if ever) and I could pretty much have a sweet setup with those funds but is the trade off worth it?? haha :man_shrugging:

I guess I haven’t came to terms with hair loss yet even tho it’s been shedding like a dog in summer lately.

would you guys do it?
hair over gear? or vice versa.

Well, seeing as I just turned forty yesterday, here’s my take. I noticed my hairline receding farther and farther up my forehead throughout my thirties. There were moments when it would stress me out a little. However, I’ve always held the idea that I am what I am, and if my hair wants to go away, so be it. I’ve also never been that concerned about how I look, other than not looking like complete shit, haha. I’m also married, with two kids, so what do I need hair for now? It’s been more of a nuisance for me, I keep it short, so it stays out of the way.

Anyway, give me the gear and a good set of clippers!

I’m in my 40s. I couldn’t give a shit. If you worry about stuff like that you’re in for a long life of anxiety. It’s hair. it’s not important.

Embrace it! I understand that a person’s hair is a big part of their identity. Accept it as part of who you are. When you do and you let go of it you can move forward without the weight of it dragging you down.

As a young man, I used to be so concerned with how my hair looked. I got so frustrated with trying to make it look good that I shaved it off at 18. I’m 44 now and haven’t looked back. It feels so good not having to play the style game.

If you’re losing your hair, embrace it as part of your identity. Reclaim that energy and pour it into something that makes you truly feel happy.

15k on hair treatment that may or may not work and might only just delay the inevitable? I personally wouldn’t pay to carry the weight of an inevitable outcome. It’s also not a “one or the other” decision. If music is your passion then perhaps channel your energy there. Pick up one piece of gear and master it. If the journey costs you 15k over the years I think you’d be in a better emotional place.

Only you know what’s in your heart for a decision like this.

I’m not sure hair is lost, I think it just migrates to other parts of the body

yeah it was sort of meant to be a fun discussion.

not intended to be about me, more so about your personal views about it, in a fun way I guess.

I know I might of sounded like I overly care for it, but after I’m done combing it I’m always like f’ it, could care less.
would be great don’t get me wrong but I’m kind of cool…for the most part.
I wear a hat most of the time anyways when I’m out, so it’s whatever.

I started losing my hair in my mid 20’s, (I’m 41 now). As soon as I realised that I was quickly receding I decided to start shaving my hair. I feel like doing this allowed me to seize control of the situation and it helped me not to worry about it.

I’ve not felt that it’s ever had any negative on me.

I can’t imagine a scenario where hair is worth £15k of gear.

Is this recent? Just moulting? Or several months. My uncle was a moulter, but didn’t go bald till 60’s.
Anyway. Shave your head and you might discover you like it. I did just for the hell of it and got a shit load compliments.

Gear over hair any day.

it’s been shaved throughout at times but it doesn’t look that presentable on me.
not a superficial thing either.

also too makes me look like Gollum a bit more haha.

That anxiety should fade over time. Keep it short.

With implants, you may need to get touch-ups periodically. More $$$.
Plus I’ve always felt that any type of implant is unnatural.

If she’s bothered by it, then she ain’t worth it.

Been balding and shaving for over 15 years. So easy, so convenient. Never looking back.

(Gf gets a buzz cut now and then too.)

Go for it then. But spend $7.5k now, and the other $7.5k when the rest of it commits suicide :cowboy_hat_face:

:face_with_monocle:

lol…where are you getting spending that kind of money on hair treatment tho ?

it was 15k for gear only or magical full set of hair.
there’s no 15k for treatment.

Been trying to get rid of my hair for years…number 3 all over ftw.
