14 bars live looping, how would you do this?

Hey OT wizards!

After reading 200 topics and trying as many configurations, I’m still struggling.
So, instead of writing a novel here on those failed attempts, I’d like to ask you how what would be your approach, regarding machines, tracks and recording buffers to achieve the following :

A 14 bars (224 steps) backing track is looping on a static machine with a one-shot playback trig and loop:on.

I would like to be able to start, at bar 9 of backing track, a 14 bars sample recording from input AB and have the recording stop and the recorded sample playback as soon as the recording is 14 bars long, without changing the BPM of the OT. I don’t have a midi pedal so the more “automated” the process, the better. No overdubbing is involved.

Thanks !

Arranger.
2 x 4 bars pattern, 1 x 14 bars pattern, QREC = PLEN.

There’s at least a few angles to start to approach this…
Question: Do you have other tracks going that need a certain pattern length?

I’m thinking about switching patterns during bar 8 quantized to switch at bar 9 to a 224 step pattern with a flex/recbuffer setup to record at pattern length, the looping sample will still play through… (@sezare56 beat me at typing… :smiley_cat:)

Most simple/manual way would be to use quantized rec with either a pickup or flex with qrec/qpl set to 32, and you can manually start/stop the quantized recording…

Can give more details but need to know if there are other tracks…

Thanks @sezare56 and @Open_Mike for the multiple patterns tip !
Time to experiment…
