1 Year in solitary retreat (A variation on Desert Island Discs)

I throw another couple of logs on the fire. Come after the storm has eased

Assuming there is no internet I would probably take:

A piano
A modular shared system
An octatrack (am I allowed the manual as a freebie?)
A book teaching the piano
Some pens and paper

I would then spend the year learning the instruments and trying to recreate my favourite songs - many of which I can recall whatever-the-sonic-equivalent-of-photographically is.

You can always use the Piano as firewood when the logs run out

Interesting thread. I just definitely miss some sports-related stuff.

  1. a boxing bag,
  2. a fire bowl, or maybe a skipping rope instead,
  3. a large PA System (I hope that counts as one),
  4. Octatrack AE,
  5. a microphone.

Edit: I’d count some friends, family, or other mates as a ‚basic need‘…

I’m contemplating on trying this for 2 weeks in the fall, going to my cabin for 2 weeks with enough food & water and no way of leaving. I’d get a ride there and then get picked up after 2 weeks. Bring my home studio with me & try to make an album or two. I’d bring more than 5 items, basically all of my pedals, synths and computer though, more like 50 items rather than 5
