I installed it
congratulations.
I’m kinda sad beeing so reliant on elektrons mood, and somehow i also feel cheated.
Even if the glory day comes when they decide to fix some of the more essential bugs (like pickup machines in midi slave mode or the cc-late-bug), i’m forced to the old version 1.21B, because since 1.22 elektron decided that the midi sequencer now also records note-length and velocity in grid mode. I tried to get used with this, i tried one billion workarounds, but using 1.21B seems to be the only chance for me to keep the machine as a midi sequencer (which was the purpose why i bought it).
Still the octatrack is a fun machine, but it’s also still an anger machine.
Amongst the whimper of changes/fixes (not quite a bang elektron !)
I wonder if i’ve noticed another hugely inconsequential one (except for OCD users)
In my experience the track level always increased and decreased in 2s, generally even until the top, then odd on the way back down, it made setting 100 a pain sometimes - did i imagine that ? anyone still on b and are there other subtle undocumented changes perhaps ?
You are right, avantronica.
Switching between odd and even track level numbers can only be approached by going down to zero (to get even numbers) or to 127 (for odd numbers).
At least this was true for all OS versions i tried yet.

Hey Avan,
Can you function/turn to reach 100 imediately? That’s what I do on other elektron boxes not sure if they go in 2s or not tho.

Those are the touches i miss the most from the A4 experience, but in this case Fn+Level is actually the main way to change Main level, given that the main vol pot is for cans
@psicolor Glad to hear i didn’t imagine that 2s thing, but my level encoder is clearly skipping in 1s now, so that sounds like a nice wee UI tweak to add to the list of actual changes, albeit an inconsequential one
For me the biggest WIN from the update is click-less Ping Pong looping. It’s now finally easier to get usable loops.
I’m amazed it took this long to fix sure a core bug. I mean looping a sample is a core sampler feature. Having one method of the two ways to loop broken for such a long time is pretty bad.
I wonder if the other clicks will also get fixed in the future. And before anyone starts, yes I’m well aware of how this works. But… I had hardware samplers from the past that never suffered from this. A sampler from the future should certainly not have this issue.
Perhaps if they allowed some level of polyphony to allow for an overlap… like the A4 then that could work. Who knows… it’s annoying that’s all I know.
Gotta love first world problems though.

Yeah. I have a bit of a grapheme synesthesia so mixing always has an element of numerology to it. Anyway - having to power-twiddle to get out of something like 87 ('cause it just feels wrong) used to irritate me more than a bit. So yeah, tight little fix.
I do notice, however, that (at least some of) my levels that used to be set at 100 are now at 108 post-update. Anybody else noticed this? I know this because 108 is another no-go.
Maybe Elektron have all gone Hindu and now subliminally smuggle the sacred number AshtaaShatanaamaavaLi into all their UIs.
