Hi Simon,
Whats the ballpark ETA on loading Sample Chains to the Rytm in Overbridge?
Next update? One after? 3 months? 6 months?

You mean just uploading samples via Overbridge?
Honestly, I have no idea when that will be ready, sorry.
But as AdamJay estimates, 2016 is probably correct.
The coming version has been quite huge in terms of development, and it is feature set - sample loading via OB is not part of it.

Is there SysEx documentation available?

Itās SDS - if you are referring to only the sample loading.
EDIT: Donāt know how they will be handling it via Overbridge

Cool, thank you, good to know.
Not a dumb question at all!
By āthe driverā I am referring to the sound card functionality of our Overbridge devices. However, itās vague of me to use it like that since the driver handles the incoming audio to the plugin as well. Itās just how weāve started to refer to it in the office.
Anyway, if you set up the Rytm or Four as your soundcard with any present version of Overbridge you can send audio to any of the Tracks.
Threading on thin ice here! You guys are making me sweat.
Yes! Itās technically possible. But quality-wise?
Hmmā¦ There is no hefty DSP running, you need to take that into account.
(And yes, I know you can make really nice lofi synths out of almost anything, but then you wonāt be doing much else with the processor, and we are doing a lot already)
Thanks, Simon. Donāt mean to push you out onto thin ice! Good to know itās at least possible. Now Iāll go back to daydreaming.
Iām daydreaming about some sort of little lo-fi mode the A4 can go intoā¦ maybe sacrificing some processor intensive features momentarily to gain the digital oscs capability. Perhaps to get somewhere close to the ESQ-1 type of sound.
I sold my ESQ-1 earlier this year and still regret it, just didnāt have room for it, itās huge. What a lovely sound though - those digital oscs going through the analog filterā¦ so nice to my ears.
I own a PRO2, a Modal 001, and have an Acid8 on its way; I have a fetish for digital oscillators combined with analog filters.
Look out for an ESQ-m, theyāre a great solution
Iām after one myself. ESQs are SO cheap at the moment, theyāve gone down in priceā¦
Yes.
So the single cycle OSC could be substituted for the noise sample on OSC1, yeah?
Theyāre a tiny file size, and the only extra DSP would be a loop functionality, as the noise OSC already has all of the processing possibilities of the AK voice available to it yes?
Lofi digital is actually preferable to me! It seems really feasible, it would turn the AK into a beastā¦
I just wanted to revisit this idea. The Roland R8/R70 series was brought up as having a āhumanizeā feature, and I noticed the Squarp Pyramid has it as well. Is this something Elektron could/would implement into the RYTM? This is a very desirable feature to me; Iām actually thinking of picking up the Pyramid sequencer for this one feature alone.

Geezus, Bach. Buy an R8. You wonāt have to sell anything for it
So hard to be human these days.

lol I ended up ordering an Abstrakt Avalon without having to sell the A4
@ Simon
Any chance you could give us a drop date?
I find myself checking this and the elektron site at least twice a day for news. It sounds so awesome that Iām having a hard time sleeping at night
Also, and you may have mentioned this already but, will there be an update for the other DAWs in terms of Overbridge? Mainly Iām hoping an a useable OB in Logic x. Itās pretty messy right now (glitched audio, bad syncing, outright crashing the whole thing).
Cheers!
Canāt give you a date, sorry.
Subscribe to our newsletter, we will send it out when the OS is ready.
Yes, other DAWs will be supported better. Much Logic/AU work has been done.

Are there any plans to do a Reason Rack Extension for this or is it not practical?
YES!! All the time!

Will it work for those not on El Captain? I will loose my FW interface once I am forced to make the switch, just hope itās not bc of OB!

Loading samples from overbridge would be the most important feature of the entire program for me
+1 for that. Loading samples via c6 is so fā¦n boring
