Story of Firebird orchestra hit

Thx for that history page.
This sound is a bit like amen break sample, a fundamental of electronic music.

For some reason I’m thinking about the Digitakt as a modern Fairlight CMI. Some of that flexibility and musicality seem to be presented in this black box. With some effort it also lends itself to a modern sound design.

Fun stuff and this series is always good for a smile.

There is also an academic paper out there on this. If you like 80s music with a side order of postmodern cultural analysis/critique, it’s a good read. I think if you search Orch2 or Orch5 (sic) then it will come up.

What I find really fascinating about the orch hit sample is that the chord itself is pretty exotic By popular music standards, yet over and over again people manage to fit it into all kinds of pop compositions.

whats the chord?

B sharp

Is it really just a plain B sharp major chord? I remembered it being something more ambiguous. If so, it’s not terribly exotic (the key might be a bit uncommon).

I was totally joking there - I have no idea haha!
