Save sample in track recorder slot?

I’m currently working on a live set where I’m using one particular track to live record and mangle the resulting sample. The recording always takes up the same length, 2 bars. Whenever I turn on the OT, I then have to record something into the buffer, go into edit mode and create the slice grid.

There was talk of a way to have a sample (and grid?) in there automatically at startup: Pre - Slicing live audio

Anyone know how to do that?

OS version ? Pre Slices don’t work with all versions.

If tempo is always the same :
Record 2 bars with no sources (silence)
Create Slice Grid
Use SAVE AND ASSIGN, ASSIGN TO SELF
That sample is now always loaded with slices.

If tempo vary, you can use start points instead of slices.

Ah jeez, you just helped me realise that this is a comfortable way of “saving state” when I power off my Octatrack … simply assign the saved sample to the recorder slot, then just use save all before powering off …

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. Thanks AGAIN, @sezare56 :sunflower:

And thanks @nyppy for the question!

This can be used with Pickups, if you want to add overdubs.

I’m on v1.30b.

And it works beautifully. Thanks a ton!
