MONOMACHINE SFX-6 MIDI Output switch Octatrack off

When my monomachine SFX-6 is connected to the Octatrack via MIDI (monomachine sends signal), something weird happens. When I switch off the monomachine, Octatrack switches off too, for a short moment and then restarts…!!!

Today I connected the monomachiene with a very old Red Sound Dark Star and similar thing happened. DarkStar showed “Errr”, (which means error) and after that, i wasnt able to control any midi channel of the Dark Star!!! So did i killed some smart electronic parts inside with my massive monomachine? I even cannot to a re-initialisation. Midi is dead now…

Wow. You better stop experimenting and connect an multimeter or better oscilloscope to the midi out. Seems to give high power surge when switching off.

Two fault points come to mind: power switch sparks or the midi ports optocoupler is broken.

You could test what happens when you put a midi merger or throu box in the chain to the OTs midi in.
