Format new CF card?

From what I gather you can’t format the new card directly on the OT.
I have a card reader, do my audio stuff on a Mac.
Trying to get a solid step by step to get the new card working.
I’m not going to try until I’m fairly certain what the best process is.

There is a possibility to format from OT :

SYSTEM > CARD TOOLS > FORMAT

Then create a SET

…best process?

never be scared…yes, it’s ot’s most fragile part of the whole thing…BUT just make sure u always insert in a straight angle, never force it, never hurry…

and sure u format it with the ot itself…don’t use external card readers…really no need to…
that sandisc extreme sounds like a good and solid choice…
once formatted via ot’s format option u get one set and one audio pool created by default and u’ll never gonna need more than that…no matter how many projects, no matter how many sample folders for all ur chains and what not in that one, same audio pool in that one, same set main folder…

for any future content exchange with ur mac, u just use the usb connection and ur whole ot will show up on ur desktop as a standard external device, granting u all the access to the content of ur card…

whenever done, just make sure to “eject” the ot icon on ur desktop first…
once done, ot will automatically switch back to internal access only…
no worries…just never rush…

Thanks a TON.
That’s exactly what I was hoping for.

Tell me, can someone come across this, getting used to it, sometimes a thin strip appears on the screen and then it fades out smoothly when I’m turning off the octatrack .Is this a screen problem or can it be connected with the card?

@sezare56 and @reeloy coming through with the soothing posts.
I like this thread.

Did this today.
Brand new formatted 64gb CF in the Octatrack, its contents wiped clean. The back-up set is there looking at me on my computer, but i actually think im feeling pretty inclined to start over.
Its there if i want it back, right?
Its pretty incredible to have it there, totally empty, ready to start again.

Yeah it’s wild to think about it being on the computer and wondering if you can get it back.
It’ll definitely port back over.
It’s the brand new card part that seems a bit tricky.

I need to try my new card soon.
Waiting to finish some tracks I got in the works.

Ehh… i think im going to leave it off the new card.
Fresh start!
Walking away from three years of stuff is feeling really, really good so far.
I know i can retrieve it if i want to, so its not like i deleted it all.
The whole process was super simple and straightforward.

Like a virgin…
I didn’t copy/paste any project from my first backup when I used my new card.
I wouldn’t anyway, now it is too different after almost a decade…

I copied some basic samples though.
