External MIDI notes transposes up

Hello Elektronauts forum.

I am trying to control my Digitakt from external MIDI sources. I am able to connect and send notes to the channels using both Arturia Keystep and Korg Electribe 2. However, all notes received on the Digitakt are transposed up by one octave. I try to demonstrate the issue in this video:

  1. I play the note directly on the TRIG, it’s set to C3. A C3 note of the sample is played
  2. I play a C3 note on a synth on my computer, controlled by Keystep
  3. I play a C3 note on the Digitakt, controlled by Keystep. A C4 note of the sample is played
  4. Repeat 1
  5. Repeat 3

Notes from the Electribe are also transposed up the same way. What’s the cause of this?

I had this problem in the past, making a new project fixed it

i do believe the electribe 2 plays an octave lower/higher? than most other stuff. a least mine does. i don’t understand why it’s like this with korg

Did you post this on Facebook as well?

Yes, I posted this on Facebook as well.

Sending a note to the Electribe and Ardour (DAW) from Keystep results in the same note. Sent to Digitakt it’s one octave higher. I will check against Ableton Live later.

I tried making a new project, the notes are still transposed.
