Electro-Acoustic pickup

Cool thread! I use piezoelectric mics on my tanbur. One thing that’s helped immensely is running it through a preamp designed for super high impedance. I use a PZ Deluxe and K & K pickups. Very low noise. Anything in particular you were wanting to record with a piezo @Ryan?

Nothing going into it- I’d probably just use it to explore around with my Zoom H6.

Oh, interesting. I think I’d recommend something like this for a portable solution between the piezo and your H6:

Hey! That’s not a bad price! I reckon it would work for a variety of various mic styles!

Thanks for the heads up!

any of you cats use contact/piezo mics for sound design? i saw a guy on youtube stick a mic to his desk and start banging on it for some really cool sounding percussion. something cheap would do the trick

attaching one to a broken windmill sounds pretty good.

A preamp to boost the signal into your recorder helps out a lot. You could try any number of piezo guitar pickups with preamp on eBay or build yourself.

even this might be more complex than you’d need:
