Saving project saves the state of the machine. If you save project when working with parts that you’ve changed since saving part last, it will load back just like that using parts with their changes and having their last saved version still available to reload. Depending on use case you may or may not want to save parts before saving project, you may want the project to load using a modified part and still having a saved version ready to reload…

More saving info for new OTists:
The OT has two versions of projects, the working state and the saved state. When you create a project the OT creates a working state and auto saves things as you go. When you use “save project” the OT creates a saved state, I think of this as a restore point.

When you change projects the OT loads the auto saved working state. To get to the saved state you must first have used saved project at some point to create a saved state, and then reload the project once you’ve loaded it to get to the saved state from the working state…
