Can A4's sequences be played by ext. keyboard? NOT step input

Hi guys, is it possible to play sequences on the A4 from an external keyboard?

As opposed to recording notes into trigs, what I mean is the way sequences are triggered on “conventional” synths . The sequencer doesn’t start before you press a key and stops when you release the key (unless you have a “latch” button or smth switched on). The note of the key is used as a root note for the sequence, so pressing a key means both real time transposing and triggering. My Mopho desktop and Bass Station II both do this.

Thanks for any help on this!

Yes you can. The A4 has multi map capabilities where you can assign incoming midi to notes or sequencer (pattern-) action.

thanks for your reply.

I was just reading the chapter about multi map in the manual today, but found it a bit brief. Are there additional resources other than the downloadable manual?

cheers!
